MIXTUMQ, TRANSIENCE, & MISC.

Mixtumq #1: Artois (Front Cover)Mixtumq #1: Artois

The first chapter of Mixtumq, Vol. 1: The Death of Artois, which will be published by Rat World & Selcouthbird Press sometime in 2025. #1 was originally released with 12 pages at Auckland Zinefest 2022, then with 16 pages in SPECK #1, and finally, with 24 pages at Auckland Zinefest 2023.

Mixtumq #1 can be read HERE.

Mixtumq #2: People Plant Plans

Mixtumq #2 was originally planned for Auckland Zinefest 2023, but instead I opted to expand the condensed zine-version of #1 into the full 24-page chapter. #2 is being drawn as we speak, hopefully releasing concurrently with Rat World #7 in January 2024.

Mixtumq #2 (will be able to) be read HERE.

Transience #1: Daze, Dog Door

A 24-page comic I made in 2020. An exploration of gender-identity in a post-apocalyptic, purgatorial desertscape. It was first drawn as a storyboard for the animated film I made for my first year of my Bachelor of Animation course. That short film is available HERE. In wouldn’t be right not to credit @Tashi_Rd‘s Monster & Me diaries for the series’ initial inspiration.

Transience #1 can be read HERE.

Transience #2: Birds, Brunch, Balls

The second issue of Transience is currently in the works, almost entirely because someone came up to me at Auckland Zinefest 2022, and was disappointed that I hadn’t made it yet. She gave me her email address, but in my ADHD-ness, I lost it. I hope you’re still waiting, whoever you were.

Transience #2 (will be able to) be read HERE.

Misc. #1

AKA Somnium #1 and Somnium #2

Misc. is a collection of comics I drew in 2018 and 2019, surreal slice-of-life ramblings. Featuring myself and the Insomnia Monster, a creature inspired by @Tashi_Rd’s Monster & Me diaries, back when I read them in 2017 before they were even comics.

Misc. #1 can be read HERE.

RAT WORLD MAGAZINE

F33L

#6 of Rat World features a 6-page comic about creative block, deadlines, and having story ideas that you haven’t thought through – while I get berated by my own fictional characters again.

Rat World Wants You to Make a Graphic Novel

From Rat World Issue Five

#5 of Rat World features a 4-page comic where I struggle to decide which graphic novel idea to make, battle my high expectations for productivity, and argue with the protagonist about the content of her story.

Rat World Issue Five is available for purchase HERE.

Who’d’ve Thought Cam Had A.D.H.D.?

From Rat World Issue Four

A four-page detailing of my experiences pursuing an ADHD diagnosis and access to medication treatment in New Zealand.

Rat World Issue Four is available for purchase HERE.

Kelly Tarlton’s 2002 / Valentine’s Day 2003

From Rat World Issue Three

Two short stories from my neurodivergent childhood. In one I spiral into existential dread as a misunderstanding leads me to think that penguins are 6-foot-four. In the other a good-natured cupid-moment teaches me the consequences of lying to 5-year-olds with dyslexia.

Rat World Issue Three is available for purchase HERE.

Beep Beep

From Rat World Issue Two

A 4-page comic exploring my spiralling daily anxiety, and my aversion to looking at my phone.

Rat World Issue Two is available for purchase HERE.

Thyme

From Rat World Issue One

A 4-page comic I made for the first issue of Rat World, repurposing pages from Transience #1 and an abstract page from a sketchbook that I had lying around. It became an exploration of how time hasn’t quite worked the same since the lockdowns in 2020.

Rat World Issue One is sold out, but might be available to purchase HERE.
